One of the artists represented in the MoMA collection, Murakami is known worldwide for blurring the boundaries between fine art and pop culture. In 1994, Murakami received a fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council to paipate in MoMA PS1's International Studio Program. Murakami's work has been featured in several exhibitions at MoMA, including Comic Abstraction: Image-Breaking, Image-Making in 2007.
